Telling It Like It Is

One of the things I have always found interesting and marvel at is that a small human being, having existed for such a short period of time, is able to use the fundamental tools of language. If you watch her hand gestures, her timing and pace she actually believes she is communicating yet without the experience of words. She has no discernible word other than 'momma'. Language is hard-wired into our brains and its basis has to be genetic just waiting for nurture to fill the bowl with a proper syntax. Her hand gestures to me indicate that we still have a primal artifact of communication with hand gestures much like we see in chimps and other primates. It would be amazing to understand what images her inner dialogue is forming that she is trying to express and you can note from her eye movement she is trying to understand why they are laughing at her.

Random Thoughts

Just watched the Obama speech. The teleprompter performed well but its reader stumbled. Apparently the world's richest man is now the Secretary of Defense. He blamed the Bush administration, with its policies that kept us from being attacked again, for wasting his time having to try and prosecute them. This guy's head moving left to right constantly is very distracting. He needs a 12-step program to break this teleprompter addiction.

Cheney was.. well, Cheney . But he shredded Obama. I can hear Bob Beckel on FoxNews spitting and sputtering. What a manchurian candidate.

Democrats are such tools. If an original thought ever came to their head I wouldn't want to be anywhere near the explosion.

Conclusion: Obama is an idiot. I know, I know... I'm a racist.

I once saw Pat Robertson claim that he and his followers prayed a hurricane away from hitting the Carolinas. This is the type of thing the left ridicules yet they are just as absurd thinking that by appeasing their god, Gaia, they can do something even greater with the climate.

**********
Rush is leaving New York because of high taxation. Gov Corzine in New Jersey had shortfalls in the state budget so he raised taxes. This drove affluent people out of the state. New York city and Obamaco cut Wall Street bonuses. Taxes on those bonuses deprived NYC of much needed revenues. The thing that liberals do not understand is that if you drive away the bees there won't be any honey.

**********
Obama has six months to close Gitmo. A foolish promise made to the extreme left. Now he is finding out why the Bush administration opened it in the first place. It once again reinforces my observation that it takes a liberal about two years to understand what a conservative sees immediately as the obvious. Must be all that nuanced thinking they do.

Wind and solar do not make good lubricants.

The UAW and the Obama mafia make a good fit. Both use thuggery, threats, and intimidation to get what they want This way the left can make their little 'people's car' just like Hitler 's Volkswagon. So the UAW will be controlled by the government and next time they stike hopefully a conservative will be President and go Reagan on them and fire them all.

The New Democrat Party

Now that the MSM has pledged total devotion to Obama and Obama has stepped in to man the helm of major corporations the new fascist entity needs a new symbol.

Go Home Girl Go

This little girl, Sahara Rain Brown, is from my rompin grounds. This is her entry into the Star Spangled Banner contest. I loved her answer for why she entered the contest.

T.E.A.

I see Gov Sanford and Perry are going to hold a well-organized T.E.A. Party 2.0.

This is all well and good but I think these demonstrations are drifting in their purpose. This isn't just about taxes but a general disgust with the ways of Beltway. But as far as taxes an emphasis needs to be directed at the payroll tax.

Having just recently filed my taxes I went back on Turbo Tax and did some 'what if's'. I first took a look into just giving the money to charity. When I put in a 12K deduction I only got about a 2K reduction in my taxes. So I kept running the number up until I had given it all away. I would still owe $6700 in payroll tax. It is permanent. No way around it.

I ended up paying about 10% of my gross in income tax. If people focus on that then they don't have much of a case. Some place could easily have sales tax that high. I felt it was not really all that bad and wouldn't be able to workup any kind of ire at that. It is the payroll tax to pay for entitlements that is killing us. Given an aging population and a young semi-educated potential under-class..... Washington...we have a problem.

So I just think this T.E.A. movement needs to flesh out a broader target than just personal income taxes. That dog won't hunt. The issue facing us is liberal spending and growing entitlements. The democrats want to add to this health care when we can't even pay for the programs we already have.

But then again who am I to question the brilliance of the democrats who got us into this situation.

Don't Tread On Us

They messed with Texas and lost. Look's like Oklahoma means business as well.

I particularly like this opinion from one of our more educated state senators:
Sen. Connie Johnson, D-Oklahoma City, argued the bill ran afoul of the U.S. Constitution and amounted to state government establishing a religious preference.

She recalled as a child watching Charleton Heston in the leading role of the 1956 movie, "The Ten Commandments," and always understood "there was a religious connotation to the issue, rather than historic."

She said it "disregards our Christian beliefs...that we're supposed to love our neighbors and have respect" for people of all faiths.
If she ever bothered to open a book she would know that movie is fiction. Moses was the meekest of men and studdered so badly his brother had to speak for him. More like Woody Allen than Charlton Heston.

If she really got ambition she would know that the ten commandments is Jewish law. She would also realize that Christianity was brought to the world through a Jew and further she would understand that Mohamed borrowed heavily from Judaism when he needed to attempt legitimization of the religion he was inventing.

So the Ten Commandments is something shared by the world's major religions, about as close to respecting people of all faiths as anything can get.

If I ever run across her maybe I ought to have her bless me with her vast wisdom and show me that part about separation of church and state in the Constitution. Hopefully she can explain that 'free practice' part to me. Apparently it is not something a commoner like myself can comprehend. I might also bring up that the Constitution says 'Congress shall make no law'. That's Congress, where is the part about state legislatures ?
This ought to be interesting.

Finley Foister Rocks

Finley called a gathering in the studio to show a new song he was working on. Here he is showing his dad a drum roll he would like to hear coming out of the second verse. Amazingly he is also able to show me when he wants the guitar riff to come in and how long I should let it sustain. We may need to wait a bit for the vocals to get worked out.

Love Is Blue

Was sitting here with work on my mind and suddenly a group of old and feeble neurons must have collapsed and short-circuited themselves into my focus. I heard this song in my head but could not recall either the artist or the title but it did blossom many memories of how popular it was at the time and was one of the favorites they would play at the roller rink with the lights from the mirrored balls all around while gliding over the floor.

I assigned the task of recall to my subconscious an went back to work. Then the name came to me Paul Mauriat.... I goggled him and then recognized the name of the song. How could I have forgotten that !!!

Love is Blue.

Smart Diplomacy

Whenever I hear people saying we should talk to our enemies, like Iran, I recall this scene from the 1953 version of War of the Worlds.
